The Dawning of the New World {Ryan vs Rei Yuugure}

It was twilight. The moon, a waning crescent, settled its position in the pitch black sky. Throughout that dark chocolaty night, swam little buds of light that was randomly placed. Almost as if a huge hand had grabbed a bunch of glitter and just threw them into the coco mix. In the body of water between Yukigakure and Kirigakure would be miles and miles of driftwood neatly connected with each other. The driftwood would be three miles in width, and however miles long until the edge of the driftwood barely brushed against the shores of the two nations. The driftwood seemed to be connected by a source of chakra of some sort for the time being. As time continued to tick until the dawn of morning, the driftwood would begin to debark from one another, floating off in the distance. But for now it stayed put. The two Shinobis' chosen to fight would have to step onto the driftwood. The most amusing part is that random icebergs would float on by and possibly sea creatures would arise up and try to take a bit. Of course, these sea creatures would have to be pretty big with a large jaw of some sort. Nevertheless, as the waning crescent moon shed off as much light as possible, the dark sea waters would reflect the light somewhat. The two Shinobis' would have to rely on their senses other than just sight. But, this task was doable.

And so, as the clock hit 12, midnight, the others would be fast asleep in their own homes while a battle will unfold in this mini arena.

Ryan had traveled for 13 hours, finally it was night and finally he had reached a checkpoint, the End of the trail that was the edge of Kirigakure. He looked out towards the debris in the water floating across the surface. The lake itself was black and only the reflection of the moon can really be seen on it's glassy surface. But that didn't help nor hinder Ryan's sight as he noticed Glaciers floating down the river as well. They weren't too big in size but they seemed big enough to knock any being off of the debris who had the bad luck of colliding with one while standing upon one. Ryan had no intention of floating through river without knowing what swam beneath the surface. Ryan crouched down and started twirling his scalpel with his fingers figuring out how he would be able to turn these waters into the battleground that fit right in the palm of his hand. First thing's first; Cloak himself upon the debris. His Chunin partner decided to take the position of one of the expected combatants. Ryan placed his fingers in the water to test the temperature; it was incredibly warm despite the fact that Glaciers were floating in it; which would mean that it probably inhabited hundreds of sea serpents prepared to gnaw Ryan to shreds with little to no problem or hesitation. Ryan removed his clothing and then had his female Chunin partner wash him up, they hastened their actions making sure to remain out of sight of any of the other expected combatants, and after Ryan had masked his odor; he walked over towards the tree and grabbed two bodies cleverly camouflaged with the tree. The bodies were small but they would serve as a suitable substitution. Ryan had his Chunin friend dump the urine soaked corpses in the river attracting the attention of most of the wildlife. He made this quite noisy so that Ryan wouldn't be detected by the wildlife or his enemies as he slipped into the water and hid in a trunk lodged in the 2 foot coastal shelf hanging on the Kirigakure side of the River. It barely stuck out of the water and Ryan was face up concealed from sight with his lips just over the surface of the water breathing slowly. The Chunin nodded to herself and awaited her opponents as she stood at the edge of kirigakure.

Rei sighed as he sat in a tree, half asleep and half awake. He had come to the edge of Kirigakure alone the day prior, having some work that needed to be done out here, since an OLD friend of his had called him in on a favor. He had no choice but to come to Kirigakure. He was battle worn and tired, but had healed up nicely and gotten a good day's rest, just waking up an hour prior to midnight. He had made no preparations to fight anyone, nor did he really remember that he was supposed to fight anyone at this time tonight.

He woke up with a yawn, jumping down from the tree audibly, his favored oak bokken falling down with him, being caught and put on his side expertly, though he had no intention of using it. His hands hurt a bit from earlier, doing all that heavy housework. He had wrapped up his hands in gauze not because they were injured, just to be used as impromptu gloves of sorts. He stretched his arms and legs, making his muscles warm up and blood run through his muscles.

He rubbed his eyes until he was awake, taking the last little bit of water and pouring it on his head to wake him up and refresh him. He knew that there were wild animals out, so instead of stripping down, he found a nice puddle of mud to wallow in for a bit to hide his scent from the animals. He was covered from head to toe in the dirty mud, though he washed it off rather quickly with some water from a nearby stream. A fish tried to eat his hand but he took care of it with a rather quick strike with his bokken.

As he walked, he began to remember bit by bit what he was supposed to do this night. He was supposed to fight someone! But he forgot their name, but not the destination. He began his preparations, hiding a kunai up his sleeve for easy extraction, heading to the assigned place, not really up for a fight, but always ready to get his blood flowing.
